Authorization FAQ's

How can I identify if an auth is a pre-authorization?

The authorization request is identified as a preauthorization when DE 61 (Point-of-Service
[POS] Data), subfield 7 (POS Transaction Status) contains value 4 (Preauthorized request). You can see this in the ISO node of the FAST message.

FAST also simplifies the identification of preauthorizations for you by describing this in the MESSAGE_TYPE node of the message:

  • "Message_Desc": "Pre-Authorisation Request"

What validations do Paymentology perform on authorization messages?

Chargeback FAQ's

How do I view the amount credited?

You can view the credited amount in the Chargebacks report.

What is collaboration?

Mastercard's collaboration is an initiative to resolve the disputed transaction in the eraly stages of the chargeback process. This initiative helps prevent unwanted chargeback costs and significantly decreases time to resolution. In this initiative the chargeback initially goes directly to the merchant (the acquirer is not involved at this stage).
